Experiencing The Lights Fest

After a tiring work week, James and I went on a last minute trip to Mesquite for The Lights Fest. It’s the lesser known counterpart to Rise Festival, another lantern festival that takes place in Las Vegas. I’ve always wanted to go to Rise but the ticket prices have deterred me from attending. $129 for a regular ticket + $29 parking pass or $39 shuttle pass? It’s a bit steep if you ask me. What I like about The Lights Fest is their reasonable ticket prices. If you buy your  ...

Hiking the Big Island’s Pololu Valley

Since Hawaii’s Big Island is known for its colorful beaches, I decided I need to see at least one colored sand beach during my husband and I’s anniversary trip there. Unspoiled Paradise: Coron, Palawan

After a 3-day stint in Manila, James and I couldn’t wait to leave the craziness behind and enjoy a much needed relaxation in Coron. Thankfully, it’s only an hour plane ride from the metropolis. If you haven’t heard of Palawan then you’re definitely missing out! Deemed as the Philippines’ last ecological frontier, the island of  ...

Kawasan Falls: See It or Skip It?

I’ve been guilty of planning some of our trips based on photos I’ve seen on Instagram. Who needs a guide book when you can just flip through thousands of beautiful photos on the app and in an instant, be compelled to see it in person. On our recent trip to the Philippines, that is exactly what happened. I’ve seen too many photos of this stunning waterfall that it ultimately charmed its way into our itinerary. After a 2-night stay in Palawan, we excitedly booked a flight to  ...

Bohol, Philippines: Unexpectedly Beautiful

When I started planning for our trip to the Philippines, I couldn’t figure out which places to include in our itinerary. We only had two weeks to spare so I wanted to make sure the one’s we visit were worth it. Most of the people we asked told us to visit Palawan (of course) and Boracay. For some reason, no one mentioned Bohol. Since Boracay has now become everyone’s go-to destination, we decided to skip it and avoid the crowd. Instead, we set our sights on Bohol. Bohol is  ...
