In Photos: Disneyland California
Hello guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here. The last few months have been crazy busy. Aside from spending some quality time with my family during the holidays and working at the hospital, I also used the time off to think about how I want to continue with my blog. I wasn’t really happy with the direction it was headed. I felt pressuredย to keep up with everyone elseย that I forgot why I started this blog in the first place. But now that I’ve sorted everything out, I’m finally back to blogging full time (hopefully). And what better way to commemorate my return than by posting about my recent trip to the happiest place on earth?
Last week, James and I went on a spontaneous trip to Disneyland. I can’t even remember the last time we went because it’s been that long. Maybe 2-3 years at the most? Ever since we moved to Vegas and got rid of our season pass, we haven’t really felt the urge to go back until recently. There wasn’t a lot of changes since we last visited. Same rides, same crowds. I was kinda disappointed that Fantasmic and some rides, namely Pirates of the Caribbean and Matterhorn, were closed that day. Good thing we were able to go on two of my favorites, Space Mountain and Indiana Jones or that would’ve ruined my day. Although we had a great time at Disneyland, I doubt we’ll be back anytime soon. I no longer have the patience for loooooong lines and overcrowded spaces. So for now, goodbye Disneyland. Till next time! <3
Matterhorn was closed that day. ๐
It may seem boring to some but I really like the Jungle Cruise. I’m still hoping to do the real thing someday!
French dip sandwich from French Market (3.5 out of 5).
After a 20 year hiatus, the Main Street Electrical Parade returns to Disneyland after it first debuted in 1972.
I’ve been to DisneyLand Paris and it was a magic moment… I think newt time I go back, I want to be with children because it’s like a dream ๐
That must’ve been magical to visit Disneyland in Paris nonetheless! Same here. The next time I go back I’ll bring my niece and nephew with us. I’m sure they will appreciate it more. ๐
I’ve only been to the one in Orlando and I was so young I don’t remember it at all. I was never one of those kids to sit still long enough to watch a movie, so I don’t think Disney means the same thing for me. It does sound like a fun place to take kids and the pictures look neat.
I’ve never been to Disney World but I heard its amazing! I hear ya, it’s not really for everyone. I loved Disney movies ever since I was a kid so this place was heaven for me when I first came here to the US from the Philippines.
A spontaneous trip to Disneyland sounds like so much fun! Wish I could do that. I love all the photos. Brings me back to childhood.
Thanks Sarah! It sure does bring back childhood memories. ๐
I am so in love with all things Disney! I just got back from Magic Kingdom in Florida and I am still fangirling over it. Even as a 33 year old, I will never get tired of it. <3
That’s awesome! Ive never been to Magic Kingdom. I’m glad that you feel the same. I love all things Disney as well <3
Let me just say that I love Disneyland now and when I was young. You pictures make me want to go back and visit again and the pictures of the Matterhorn smile, as i just finished my post on the real Matterhorn mountain. Like the Matterhorn was close for you, the haunted house was closed when I was there. I suppose it gives me a reason to go back and visit again ๐
Same here! There’s just something about Disney that makes you reminisce and miss your childhood days. I’m glad you like the photos! I had fun taking them. ๐
My favorite part of Disney would definitely be the baked good and the balloons! Haha. I went to the one in Florida once as a kid and once as an adult, but I haven’t been to the CA location yet. My cousin lives nearby and wants to take the nieces and nephews. Could be a fun family day!
The balloons! Hah! I love taking photos of those colorful balloons. And you’re definitely right about those darn baked goods. So delicious, I can’t get enough. I hope you get to visit Disneyland with your nieces and nephews soon. I bet they will have loads of fun! ๐
I’m not a fan of the happiest place on earth – my family always bought a season pass when I was a kid, but I remember my parents always fighting on the way home. I actually haven’t been as an adult (my poor kids), but like you, I don’t love crowds and long lines. Your photos are fabulous, though!!
Thanks for liking the photos Tara! Aw I’m sorry it wasn’t a good experience for you. But I sure hope your kids get to visit Disneyland someday. ๐
Beautiful photos. I love that you guys just randomly decided to go hahaha I’ve only been to Disney World in Florida but this does make me want to grab up my daughter and head to Cali.
Thanks so much Hallie for liking the photos! Yeah it was totally last minute haha. We try to do more spontaneous trips every now and then :p
I went to Disney World as a kid, but I don’t really remember it. My cousin lives in LA but every time I visit, I don’t really think about going there. I think I’ve been missing out, though! Next time I’m there, I just may have to check it out.
Oh you have to! Take your cousin with you when you go. I’m sure you guys will have a great time. ๐
I believe one is never too old to visit disneyland. It is a different world altogether. The food, the rides, I love it all. Disney brings out the child in all of us. I am always amazed at how the atmosphere of fun and frolic appear the same in all Disney parks across the world. We were in Disney in Hong Kong, last year around Christmas and it was amazing.
That’s so true! Disney does bring out the child in all of us. I love visiting Disneyland during the holidays too especially Christmas time. They make sure the park looks festive and beautiful!
So much to do and see. If I was travelling with kids I can imagine that this would be quite magical.
Im sure they’ll enjoy what Disneyland has to offer! My niece loved our Disneyland trip last time we went.
EVERYTHING!! I am a complete Disney nut! I visited for the first time last April and it really is the happiest place on Earth! So jealous of you guys who live so close! The crowds are definitely a downside but they’re worth enduring for all the magic!
Haha me too girl! I love everything Disney. Aw Im glad you finally got to visit Disneyland! Was it everything you’ve hoped for and more? I was so excited too when I visited for the first time. ๐
I love Disneyland but haven’t been for years. Now that we live in New Zealand, it’s not so easy. Your photos brought me right back to the magic. Did they tell you in advance that Pirates of the Caribbean and Matterhorn were not operating? Of course, after travelling there from Vegas, I guess you would go in anyway. As for the parade. I remember when it left. I flew down from San Francisco to see it for the very last time . . . I guess not.
Oh wow New Zealand! I’d love to go there someday. We didn’t know it was closed at that time. Sometimes, the rides just close due to maintenance but I guess this time, they were getting some major work done on those two rides. It wasn’t too bad. We still enjoyed the other rides.
You can’t help but smile at Disneyland pictures! I’ve never visited but I’m keen to go to Disneyland Paris so I can experience the magic for myself. And the parades at night – how I’d love to see those! Thanks for sharing.
Aw I’m glad they made you smile! I had fun taking them. I hope to visit Disneyland Paris someday too!
I am still not sure if Disney is worth the hassle but for a piece of mind, I still want to check it out. ๐ Great post and loving the photos
I don’t think it was a hassle per se. It was just really crowded when we went coz it was the weekend. I still would visit but not anytime soon. I think I’ve been spoiled with the wide open spaces that I’ve been accustomed to when I explore the national parks here in the US. Thanks for dropping by and loving the photos! ๐
It’s been several years since I’ve last been – I visited the one in Florida often as a child, as I have family in the state. I need to go back as I there are so many Disney animated films that have been released since I last went, and I really want to see all the resulting rides and characters!
I guess Disney World is more popular than Disneyland since most of you guys have only been to the one in Florida. You should definitely take a trip back, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the new additions to the park.
Disneyland is always a great place to spend a day. It’s best to do it in the off season to beat the heat and the lines, but I love the way they are updating the park. I loved seeing your pictures. Brings the memories back! Great post.
Thanks so much for liking the post Shannalyn! Yeah I guess it would’ve been better if we visited during the off season. We went on a weekend before Valentine’s Day that’s why it was so crowded.
Thanks for sharing your day at Disneyland. The lighted night time parade is one of the most magical experiences of anything Disney. I also get the patience for standing in line. It’s been interesting to watch Disney evolve over the years. Back in the early 90’s when we visited Walt Disney World in Florida, our boys were young and were the only boys in the photos we took. Fast forward 10 years, it was hard to take a photo without other kids in the photo. I love anything Disney and thanks for sharing your magical day with us.
Oh man I could hardly imagine that happening nowadays. That must’ve been fun to visit Disney World without the crowd. Yeah the lines are everywhere even in the restroom! haha. Thanks for stopping by and liking the post Sara! ๐
I love the idea of a spontaneous trip — it’s so important to incorporate travel into your year-round calendar, even if it’s somewhat close to home.
We try to do spontaneous trips every now and then. With our busy schedules, its hard to do it sometimes but thank God for same days off. ๐
It is always fun to take a break from life for some Disney. Love how they decorated for Mardi Gras. It has been more than 10 years since I visited Disneyland but my favorite was the California Dreaming ride (Soaring Over California?).
I know me too! I really like New Orleans square. Its so fun and festive! I’m not sure if they still have it. They might have replaced that with another ride.
Nice photos. I have to admit, I’ve never been to a Disney property (my parents never took me when I was a kid), and I have no desire to go to one. I prefer to visit actual places rather than theme parks, if that makes sense — like, Neuschwanstein Castle, is on my bucket list, but the Cinderella Castle that it inspired at the Magic Kingdom isn’t. (although my world-travelling cousin has been to every Disney park in the world, in most cases multiple times, including the new one in Shanghai).
Ahhh I’ve heard of that castle! Its in Germany right? I do want to see that in person too. I hear ya, its not for everyone. But there’s people, like your cousin, who are big Disney fans that don’t mind visiting every Disney park in the world. Wow, kudos to her! ๐
Usually not into them park – like I have been to Osaka many times I never stepped into Universal Studio.
But not that I have any issues with theme parks: and I think somehow Disneyland has always a nice charm to make the visitors happy and exciting. Thanks for sharing the photos! knycx.journeying
No problem! Thanks for liking the photos ๐
Awww, fairytale castles and fabulous fun. I’m long overdue for a visit to Disneyland. I think it’s fabulous how Disney has provided an entertaining escape for young and old through the generations.
Yes! Disney knows how to cater to their audiences – both young and old. Growing up, I’ve always been a Disney fan. So its always a great time whenever I visit Disneyland. ๐
I haven’t been to Disneyland, but have been to Disneyworld a bunch of times. I really enjoy it every time, although the lines can be frustrating. It’s too bad that on your recent trip some of the rides were closed. Maybe the next time you go, you’ll have a better experience.
Im actually surprised that most of you have been to Disney World than Disneyland. I thought it would be the other way around. I, on the other hand, have never been to Disney World but I’d love to visit sometime this year. I doubt I’ll be back to Disneyland soon. But we did have a great time so there’s that. Thanks for stopping by! xx
Unfortunately, one of the biggest countries India doesn’t have one. But I have visited the one in Singapore and truly enjoyed it? I am in love with your pictures. How do you put up so many of them without slowing down the website?
They should make one in India huh, it’ll be super popular I bet. Thank you for liking my photos. The secret is resizing them before posting here. ๐
I’m glad you are back now on your blogging mojos! I understand that blogging can be stressful at times. I absolutely love Disneyland too. Stunning images you have here! It made me want to go back to Disneyland now.
Thank you! I’m happy to be back. And thank you for liking the photos. I had fun taking them ๐
Wonderful Photos! Thank you for your sharing!
Thanks for appreciating them! Not a problem at all. It’s my pleasure.
Ah, I love Disneyland! I live near Disney World in Florida, but I still love traveling to the West Coast park.
